Supporting military-connected students and families wherever learning takes them

The Arizona Department of Education proudly presents the Arizona Purple Star School program (AZPSS) designation for military-friendly schools in the state. AZPSS honors a school’s dedication to supporting students and families connected to our nation’s armed forces.

Designated schools recognize military families’ unique challenges during duty assignment changes or separation and are committed to providing vital transition support to military-connected students. A Purple Star School designation signifies that the school has met all national and state requirements and is crucial in helping military-connected students stay on track to be college, workforce and life-ready. This designation allows schools to showcase their commitment by displaying Arizona’s Purple Star School program logo, certificate, and banner in their building and on social media platforms.

How we support military-connected students

ASU Prep Digital, our online K–12 school, is honored to hold the Arizona Purple Star School designation, reflecting our network-wide dedication to meeting state requirements and providing a flexible, supportive environment for students and families.

January: Purple Star Peer Group In-person Meetup

A space for military-connected students to meet in person, fostering friendships and a shared understanding of what it means to grow up in a military family.

April: Month of the Military Child

Throughout April, we recognize the military-connected students and the strength, adaptability and unique journeys they share as part of military families.

September 11: Patriots’ Day

A day of remembrance to reflect on the events of September 11 and understand how service, resilience and national unity continue to shape our country today.

November 11: Veterans Day

We take time to celebrate and learn about the people behind the uniform and the ongoing influence of their service on our community.
