Senior year has recently started for me, and I am excited to see the new experiences that it brings for me. I’m excited to discover more about myself, and have new experiences as well. Something new that I am trying is actually something that I am doing write now, writing for Student Blog! This is my first year writing for it, so it is kind of unfamiliar for me. It’s interesting though, because I have been interested in writing for a while. Some of my goals for this semester involve getting good grades in my classes, getting more involved, as well as more personal goals such as getting better at guitar. My own schedule reflects these goals of mine, and I can advance them by working hard on my classes, taking lessons, and scheduling events for myself to participate in.
My schedule is kind of unique since I am not taking very many classes, at least not for this semester. This is because of classes that I took in the past. Currently this semester I have three concurrent courses, and senior seminar. Please don’t let this discourage you though, if you feel like you can’t take concurrent courses that’s pretty normal, and I struggle with taking them as well. I usually don’t work on just one subject a day, if I do it, it is usually when I am finishing up for the week. As for live lessons, as for right now I attend 3 a week. The activities I participate in our Student Blog, and I also take guitar lessons.
Usually my goals are pretty consistent for school each week, just finish what is required of me and get good grades. This makes the goal setting process pretty simple. What helps me to avoid distractions is setting timers and focusing during the times that I set aside for school. The way that my routine has improved since I started is that I usually get off of school earlier than I used to now. This is because I try to get off early when I can.
Everyone is different, so naturally what works for me is not what will work for everybody. What’s important is to find something that works for you! If what you are doing isn’t currently working out, then I’d recommend trying something new and seeing if that works better. Also your teachers are here to support you, so if you’re struggling you can turn to them for help. If you’re taking online courses, like I am, then you can usually be pretty flexible with how and when you get your work done. This is helpful when it comes to balancing school and your own life. My advice for anybody reading this is to just make sure to get what you need to get done every week complete to the best of your ability. Life happens, although when you have the ability to finish your schoolwork, I’d recommend doing that so that it doesn’t pile up on you in the future. That way, you can focus more on the present and the future. Also if you don’t do this every week don’t get down on yourself. Each day is a chance to improve, and if you have bad days it doesn’t mean your a failure. It just means your human.
