What My Schedule Looks Like This Semester – Amira

By Amira Ramirez

This semester I decided to try something new and exciting by joining the Student Blog. Joining the student blog has helped me become better at managing my time for school. My schedule this semester gives me enough time to work on school and also do the things I like doing without having to feel super rushed or busy.

This semester I am taking Chemistry, World History, Algebra 2, English 10, an elective which is Piano and then I’m also taking a language. I join there live lessons and whichever lesson I had to join that day that worked on a specific subject then I work on the assignments for that subject. For example I have piano class on Mondays so I do the piano assignments on Monday. This schedule keeps me organized and by Friday all my homework is done and I can enjoy my weekend. I also have the student blog meetings on Wednesdays so I join those and try to get started on what we are writing next. I also play the piano outside of school so I get to practice on whatever days I have the lightest homework or on the weekends. I typically start school whenever my first class starts so I’m able to go to class with a fresh mind and after class I do my homework so that everything I learned is still new and remembered and homework is easier.

To stay organized I take notes in class. I typically just take a screen shot of the lesson pages of whatever I think or my teacher says is important to remember and I put those screenshots in a google document so that I always have my notes whenever I need them. What helps me not get distracted is putting my phone in a place that I can’t see because my phone is my main distraction and I also play calm music to help me concentrate.

It took me a little while to realize what schedule worked for me but there’s always a schedule for everyone, you just have to keep searching and trying out new schedules and see what helps you focus and stay motivated. ASUPD has a very flexible schedule by only giving us one or two classes a day with the option of classes being optional. ASUPD also lets us do our homework whenever it works or fits in our schedule as long as it’s due by the end of the week, which is Sunday night. My schedule is really flexible and is the main reason why I decided to join ASUPD since I get to manage my own time and do what works for me the best.
