With Digital students and a global pandemic, graduation ceremonies looked a little different this year. ASU Prep Digital students were honored in a virtual ASU Preparatory Academy graduation, and also had the opportunity to attend an in-person, drive-up ceremony. Nine of these graduating students were part of the original 4-year cohort at ASU Prep Digital.
Graduation provided an opportunity for many students to look back on their experiences at ASU Prep Digital. Cronkite News had the opportunity to interview some of the graduates regarding their digital experience. Nalani Monenerkit describes how she founded the ASU Prep Digital chapter of the National Honor Society and was able to find ways to give back to the community amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. ABC 15 highlighted Oldalis Contreras, a recent graduate and mother. She thanked her family and her ASU Prep Digital family for her success.
The drive-up graduation ceremony gave students and parents an opportunity to celebrate. Families decorated their cars and drove up to the stage where the students accepted their diplomas. The event was a huge success and gained attention in the media.
