My Dream Career – Artist

By Ashlee Dodd

I’ve thought about a wide variety of dream jobs in the past whenever someone asked me what I wanted to do after high school. But as of right now, I’d say I want to become a full-time artist or an art teacher.

With ASU Prep Digital’s electives and courses this year, I believe I’ll be able to make progress—especially with classes like Art & Design and Art Portfolio that help me take steps toward the career I want.

My plans for this dream career are to build a strong variety of artwork this year and in the future, and to attend an art college (either in-state or out-of-state—I haven’t decided yet). I’m also starting to save money for supplies and future projects I’d like to work on or showcase. I’ll also be reaching out to artists I know for advice and feedback as I continue learning more about the art field.

And my motivation to readers is this: “If you want to be successful in this world, you have to follow your passion, not a paycheck.” That quote by Jennifer Welter really moves me, because not everything in life should be about making money. You can follow what makes you happy. Art gives me that feeling—it lets me create something meaningful for myself, not just for someone else’s benefit.

So, what’s your dream career gonna be? 😁
